Felicity Robinson

My work is expressive, organic, abstract art inspired by the natural world.  Why? to give you, the viewer, the enjoyment of the natural energy I see in our environment.

I love the challenge of creating a piece of work that expresses the character of a place, a feeling, or an atmosphere. This could be anything from a wet walk on the hills, to a quiet, microscopic, hidden natural world on land or sea.

My inspiration may come from visiting a particular place, reading a scientific article or a remembered feeling from the past. Biophilia. The natural world is endlessly fascinating, in all its intricacies, so in my work I focus on visual texture and the restorative impact of nature, but also I aim to give people pause to think about what we are losing.

There is a powerful thread of biophilia through my work inspired by our human connection with the natural world around us.  My process starts intuitively with layers of experimentation and fun, using a wide range of paints, inks and tools often including plants and earth pigments too.  Some tools I make for myself (and other artists) using natural materials sourced while sketching outside. Materials and tools lead the way, and the painting moves towards resolution as I respond to the evolving work.

I just love the alchemy of paint and mixed media.
