Gwent wildlife trust’s Pentwyn farm

Gwent Wildlife Trust is a charity dedicated to nurturing and restoring wildlife and is part of   network of Wildlife Trusts across the UK. For over sixty years, we have been the leading conservation charity in Gwent, protecting wildlife and our natural environment, working to educate and empower people to understand and care about the natural world wherever they live, and influencing governments and others to make our corner of Wales a better place, richer in wildlife and more enjoyable for all.

“In numbers, during 2023-24 we managed 723 hectares of land and 7km of watercourse for wildlife.  We advised on management of a further 580 hectares of land and 10km of watercourses.  We protected 28 nature reserves and supported 379 volunteers to take action for nature".

“We are focusing our conservation efforts on ten vulnerable species.  A biodiverse, healthy, functioning ecosystem depends on a vast variety of species. But by spotlighting a small number, we are far better able to measure impact and engage targeted action. Our ten vulnerable species are:; The Grayling Butterfly, Shrill Carder Bee, Adder, European Hedgehog, Watervole, Pine Marten, Dipper, Barn Owl, Nightjar and the Pink Waxcap Fungus”.
